In 2007 Jadranka Group celebrates the sixtieth anniversary of welcoming our guests and customers, of taking pleasure in establishing and developing the company and the town and improving life conditions of both, Jadranka employees and Lošinj community.
On the 3rd of May, 1947 Jadranka was founded by the decision of the contemporary National Cres-Lošinj County, and was given to manage several facilities suitable for accommodation and food.

Today Jadranka:
•  is organized as a modern concern
•  is in charge of the hotel management, camping, commerce and yachting
•  employs 600 people on a permanent basis and 300 seasonal workers
•  owns over 1500 shareholders

The developing path of the Company, Jadranka owes a great deal to the untimely deceased Vladimir Antolović, M.B.A., who took over the management of Jadranka in the late 1980s and until 2005 very successfully guided this company throughout the hardest period which Jadranka and the whole Croatian tourism had to face, at the same time preparing it for a new era of Croatian tourism.
As a strategist, organizer, manager and initiator Vladimir Antolović, heart and soul lived this company and the island itself, and together with his management team and its employees ensured the developing potential Jadranka still owns.

Turning points in the development of Jadranka are:
•  Creation and development of accommodation facilities which placed Jadranka in line with famous Croatian hotel companies
•  Upgrade of campsite activities in the fifties
•  Merging with the General Commerce Company Lošinj which enabled Jadranka to step forward towards the commerce industry
•  In the autumn of 1992 Jadranka, pursuant to the Law on transformation of socially-owned enterprise, was registered as a stock company with the 75% majority ownership of small shareholders employed in Jadranka, or former and retired employees and other small shareholders with the capital of 110.828.000 German marks. In the meantime the stock capital of the company was set in line with the Company Act and today amounts 332.484.000,00 kn, and is divided into 332.484. shares of 1000 kn nominal value.
•  The tradition of small shareholders and a remarkable involvement of the employees in the ownership structure of the Company have continued up to these days. It is important to highlight the year 2002 when the ESOP programe was carried out, according to which 487 of the Company's employees together with their shares completed refinancing Jadranka Esop d.o.o. which became the owner of 83.100 shares of Jadranka or i.e. the owner of 25% of the Company's capital. Therefore until this very day the Company's employees have retained the position of its majority owners and the Company itself counts over 1500 shareholders
•  The Audit on Transformation and Privatization carried out by the National audit office, placed Jadranka among 8% of Croatian companies for which the state audit had no remarks after completed transformation and privatization process.
•  Besides the transition-process, Croatian War of Independence also had an immense influence on Jadranka. Those were the tough times when the tourist traffic was minimized and life became a struggle for survival. But even then, in one of its facilities, Jadranka managed to accommodate more than 3000 exiles, mostly coming from Dubrovnik and Vukovar. At the same time over 150 Jadranka's employees took part in the war. It is wortwhile mentioning that even during the toughest time employees received their salaries regularly and all of the Company's commitments were settled.
•  Since 1993 until today the Company has, despite the hard wartime and post wartime period, invested altogether 367.811.000 kunas or 49 milion EUR. The investments are made for the construction of new accommodation facilities, upgrading of the existing hotel facilities, equipment, maintenance and land purchase.
•  2007 – the initial stage of the hotel investment program valued at 80,00 mil EUR. Redevelopment of Hotel Aurora from 3* to 4*, with one of the most attractive wellness centres in the Adriatic, external and indoor pools, conference hall accommodating 350 people.
•  2008 – entering of the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) into the joint ownership of Jadranka hoteli d.o.o. Opening of new hotel Aurora 4*, the beginning of reconstruction work of Hotel Vespera from 3* to 4* and adjoining external pools.
•  2009 - Opening of the new hotel Vespera 4 *, special as a family hotel, with over 300 m2 playroom for children and a rich child's playground in front of the hotel.
•  2009 - Opening of the new outdoor pools between the hotels Aurora and Vespera, three pools, one of the olympic size and one for the children.
•  2010 - Opening of the new bakery and pastry

Today more than 600 of Jadranka's employees are employed on a permanent basis as well as an average number of 300 seasonal workers per year.
Quality of work and education are considered to be of major importance. Besides the on-the-job training and improvement through special trainings and programs, which resulted in recent creation of a training department to provide on-site operational training and personal development, 82 employees with a two year post-secondary school education and college qualifications make an above-average share of highly qualified personnel within the total staff.
Furthermore, 11 pupils from Mali Lošinj Catering school and 17 college students are awarded our scholarships.
In the last six-year period new generation of 102 new employees have been employed on a permanent basis, of which 17 highly qualified.
Since 2005 Jadranka is structured as a holding company. Jadranka d.d. manages its own dependant Associates and minority shares in particular Associations, and business operations are transferred to Daughter companies which hold 100% of Jadranka ownership, i.e. to Associations in which Jadranka holds majority or minority share.

Since 1995 "Radio Lošinj radio Jadranka" operates as a part of Jadranka with its frequency for the local area.
